as it is very clear to the rest of the world, americans have this unhealthy obsession with voting in celebrities into positions of power. now, i'd like to know if any of you (those outside the US of course) have this problem in your countries?

I don't think so, 'cuz the first Black person elected here was a woman elected last week in the partial election, and she's surely not a star. By the way I heard that Americans wanted to change their constitution to allow Arnold Schwarzenegger to be president (since he was born in Austria and you need to be born in the USA to become president).

This is pretty much off topic but I think it's damn cool that Pierre Trudeau married a flower child. Not many politicians marry hippie types. ;D

well, JKF was the first and only catholic president in the history of the US (but i guess that isn't as interesting as marrying a hippie).

ohh, and yeah, renix. a senator from california (dana rorbacker - or some crap like that) introduced a bill that would change the 22nd amendment of the constitution to let naturalized citizens become president. this, of course, was due in part by arnold's becomming governor of california. but he's a terrible "politician" as he was a terrible "actor". it's not cool having some two-dimentional character spouting out hacked movie quotes in front of congress. i want his head on a post, just like bush's.

Into the Saint-Lambert district. He is for the Bloc-québécois and he got out at the last canadian elections. You know his black guy who played into the Diva tv-soap.
