We have something called "midsommar" (midsummer, in the middle of the summer) and it's always on a friday in the end of June. It can be like between the 20th and 26th. a lot of people eat potatoes and herring, and a lot of people drink the "nubbe" (alcohol). Then, a lot of people dance around the midsommarstång: and wear a garland of flowers: And then they get drunk. It's Johannes Döparens day here too. But we don't celebrate it.

We celebrate it too here "Juan Bautista", but here kids get crazy throwing water each other in the streets, some water baloons fights etc. i dont think that's allowed anymore 'cos we gotta take care of the water, it's all fucked up... anyway i gotta get wasted tonight in honor of Quebec's biggest party!

haha, they traditionally had mundane stuff like oranges and peanuts... then they added candy to the mix and had them for b-day parties. again, traditionally they were used for "las posadas".
