Christianity is very confusing to me. I believe in God but I cannot stand those heavy Christian followers. The Christian perspective on most things is very distorted and contradictory.
These are the tasks you must accomplish to be fully Christian and go to heaven:
You must never lie You must never engage in pre marital sexual intercourse You must not be homosexual You must not worship any other higher power You must not swear
There's a million more things to add to the list.
Christianity wants us to be impossibly perfect beings. That's what I don't agree with. I truly believe if God did exist, he would come down on Earth and tell those hardcore Christian believers that they didn't understand what he was trying to say.

as a catholic and realist, i understand and have accepted my religion's short-comings. the branch of christianity you're talking about is the evangelical sect (like pat robertson and jerry farwell) and trust me, i hate them as much as you do for their bigoted viewpoints. but you can't marginalize the entire christian faith because of a few. there are people withing the faith who fight and advocate human rights that are also devout christians. i know chastity that you like buddhism, but they too bar such actions like:
lying drinking receiving of money pride dancing singing theft and the eating of certain foods.
restrictions are a part of every religion. and as human institutions, they are all prone to mistakes and errors. you just can't clump christianity into one group and typecast it all.

haha.. you're funny Chast!
Since my own mother is a hardcore believer, Ive been confronted to my own believes really ealier in my life. My father ever went to chruch to please my mom but Ive never felt the faith inside him. Really young I already disliked church. I felt really uncomfortable being into one of those. My mom forced me. I ever hated to be force to do something. They make you do prayer that you don,t even understand the meaning of it. It was like everyone is blind. So really young, I started to ask myself question about the meaning of the world and the believes. I ever loved Jesus but I wasnt agree with the way people was promoting it in fact. Only the fool don't change their mind and you cant force other to take your own view. If not why does God would have give us the free will? Their way of acting is in opposite of this whole idea. This whole forgive me I am a sinner thing is against all evolution concept. Its like people just go to church to give them good conscience toward God but they dont really want to change cause God will forgive them at all. Its so easy either you go to hell or to paradise. Human thing they are the center of the universe. I say to you that what a waste of space if only the earth has inhabitants. And so now, if Jesus was God how comes the whole rest of the universe survive during is 33 years of incarnation? and then so if God was there and then jesus is the continuity of him so if we all got the holy ghost in us so that means we are all also in relation with God. So we could all do what jesus did here. And some other people in the history proved it right. I think it was the message of Jesus cause yes I think he was a messenger and the message he delivered is: its all in you. you too you can if you have the faith.
I think if some text was removed from the scriptures why not some of them wouldn't have been added also? And its maybe where the messager has lost its initial meaning. I my way to discorver the Universal Truth, ive made interesting discoveries that one of them is the prrof of reincarnation into the Holy Bible itself.
That's all for now.

caro, you're absolutely correct about missing or overlooked scriptures of the bible. there were gosspils that predated mark, john, luke, and matthew. there is a theory about a "gosspile Q" and this is supported by the evidence of plagerism withing the four accepted gosspils. but within mark and luke's gosspils, we find similarities within them that are not found in the other two, supporting a theory that they took ideas from another source - "gosspil Q". there is also the book of jubbilee which explains how cane and abel's wives came to be. also, the story of noah is very similar to the babylonian story of gilghamesh which is centuries older than the story of noah.
sorry, i've been ranting. but like i said in the other thread, it's all based on faith. i take some stories in the bible to be alegorical, not literal. but i also don't try and explain miracles, which i believe do occur. it's all on a basis of faith.

This music is my opinion about the Christianity and other religions:
WRONG - Dead Fish
When you stay contrite praying for the gods, someone is talking and trying to command your mind, and with the money of innocent people benevolence, made a machine of illusion to command the world (humanity) While you destroy yourself on this state of mind, I’d like to tell you some truth (lie, shit, nothing) cause there’s no Buddha, no ALA, no Jesus Christ, to forgive what your religion used to do. Centuries of war made in name of one god, and millions of children are killed with out even know why. I don’t believe that this seet can put your life in peace, and if you care, I don’t mind if one day you’re gonna get rich, religion never gave people better life, only work on his rule, and use people, etnies and races to make money for his own.

well, i think it's all about perspective. you can't just say that religion has never worked or made someone happier, because there would be plenty of people in the world who would tell you otherwise.

poor man: priest, why I´m poor?
priest: ´cause god want this, it´s a test for you, if you be patient, when you die, you can enter in the paradise... before this, just accept the exploration by the rich people, it´s your destiny.
for many times the religion was used for keep the people alienated
today, if you don´t earn nothing in your life (cars, houses, great job) you´re a looser, but capitalism don´t give to all the same opportunitys

The main reason why I am in favour of Buddhism is because it allows people to worship other higher powers. I would be much more receptive to following their rules because they display an open mind as opposed to Christianity where it is a sin to worship other higher powers.

hmm... i don't think buddhism is so much worship as it is the asking for guidance and counceling. remember: buddha isn't a god. it's just a title given to someone who has achieved oneness with the universal flow. i would think that, for example, praying to god and holding him to a higher standard would place him at a different level then you, and that would be drawing a destinction which, as explained by buddhism, one of the causes of suffering and hindering forces that keeps us from achieving nirvana.
but don't get me wrong, chastity. i do like the buddhist religion, as i also like the taoist and yes, christian religion without all that evangelical crap.
