Hi i wonder if anyone knows what technique Erik used on the Kingwood cover?
I know it's done in photoshop or some other graphical program.. but I mean does anyone have a hint about how he did it in those kinds of programs? .. im thinking about the millencolin guys themselves on the inside of the cd-cover and the Millencolin logo..... (i know it's a bit wierd question, but i really would like to know so it's worth a try)

Erik converted them in Vectors, you can do a similar effect using some filter on Photoshop (can't remember the exact name, it's under the Artistic filters I think), there's also the Trace Bitmap option in Flash, and there are other specialized programs that can do that. But the method to have the best results is, I think, to trace it by yourself on Illustrator or another vectorial drawing software. It's longer, but you're more free to do all that you want to (like adding woods on Nikola's head).
I think Erik used Adobe Illustrator for Kingwood's artwork, helped by his graphical tablet.

The only vectorial program I know is corelDRAW. I use CorelDraw quite often at the job. It's quite good for doing printable presentations. I find that the management of the size of the objects is way more easier in it. But for all the artistic work, I find Illustrator more powerful.

Thank you! didn't think i would get an answer to that one! I guess that you'll have an answer to all your questions here, but I can't guarantee that they'll be intelligent

the filter i think you're refering to renix is the paper cutout one. it doesn't give you as clean a look as that of the kingwood cover. he needed to have used a program that uses vectors instead of pixels. he probably used illustraotr. there's alos a program from macromedia, but i forgot what it's called.

I guess it's Fireworks, I never used it, but it should be good since Flash is a well-made software.

Or maybe he used Macromedia "Freehand" it's a nice program to draw with very cool tools In the "studio diary videos", we see him using Photoshop for desinging stuff of the heartattack festival, as Rémi said maybe he used that one for the kingwood cover with some special filter effect By the way, does anyone here know a good website to download plugins effects or tutorials for photoshop? Thanks!

Car: www.pixel2life.com is real good site with tutorials to a number of graphic programs (e.g Flash, PS). Hope that you'll enjoy it!
