here's something nice things to read
Nice tourbus!
Yeah, it’s very nice down here. But upstairs, where we sleep, it’s just one big mess... We won’t be staying in hotels this tour, so this is kinda our home for this month.
You have just released the new single and video of “Shut You Out”. How did the recording of the video go?
It has been really great. I always like to record new videos.
For ‘Ray’ and ‘Shut You Out’ a lot has been done by computers, so everything goes a lot faster. When we recorded some of our earlier videos we had to stand in one pose for hours, because there were no computer animations and everything had to be done on the set.
So this time everything went a lot faster and easier.
How have the reactions on ‘Kingwood’ been so far?
The reactions on ‘Kingwood’ are very good. Unfortunately the sale figures of our albums have strongly decreased. Almost 50 percent I guess... That’s a pity.
But because of all the downloading and stuff the whole record industry is having a hard time.
What do you think about the new album yourselves?
To be honest; I think that we will never make another ‘Kingwood’ again. There is too much variation in songs for just one album. Except for ska almost every other punkrock style is represented on this album. So I guess that on the next record we will be more focussed on one style.
You name Coldplay and Ryan Adams as some of your favourite bands. How does this influence your music?
In my opinion you just have to listen to more styles of music to create your own sound. You can listen to music to find a sample of which you think: ‘maybe I can do something like that too in my song’. But you can also listen to music to just get inspired.
Nowadays I hardly listen to punkrock and if I had to start a new band tomorrow, it certainly wouldn’t be a punkrock band. I started out a solo-project to work out all of these other ideas that I have, it’s a whole different style, but It’s really great.
Where do you see Millencolin in the near future? Are you going to keep on touring and writing new songs for yet another record perhaps?
I don’t know really. We don’t really have any specific future plans for Millencolin.
How has the tour been so far?
So far it has been really great. The first Antidote tour show was in Scotland. After that we played several shows all over the UK and last night we played in Belgium.
Can we expect something special for tonight's show?
I suppose that it will be just a normal Millencolin show.
Well... Maybe there is one special thing: We will play the song ‘Fingers crossed’ tonight. We never played it live before, so that’s kinda special.
What do you think of the other bands that will play tonight?
They’re all nice people. All bands are so different from each other.
The music from the Unseen is a bit too much hardcore for me, but the guys are awesome.
We know Randy for a long time now. I first met them when we just formed Millencolin, so that’s really a long time ago. They are very cool.
Flogging Molly is a great band. I am very impressed by their shows. They know exactly how to interact with the audience. Maybe they should have been headlining this tour instead of us.
Do you have a personal favourite?
That’s definitely Randy. I have all of their albums. As I said before: we know them since Millencolin was formed. This is actually the first time that we play at the same tour as them. After all those years! They’re just great.
Good luck and I’ll see you at the show tonight!
Yeah, see you then!
