What happens when your Linux is fucked and you spend most of the time sneaking onto your sister's Microsoft machine which happens to be lacking all software suitable for MC material? What's a hopeless little Montreal girl to do?

What's a hopeless little Montreal girl to do? What exactly is fucked about your Linux? Maybe we could plan a dinner at Karro's, bring your computer and I could see what's wrong. By the way: Apple. Think different.

No problem with microsoft... and if there is c: format And I'm the boss Actually it's format c: But Microsoft kinda blocked that feature with Windows XP... it still exists, but it's a mess to access it. This conversation reminds me of this great citation: An Apple a day keeps the doctor away... especially if you aim at his head.

A mess? its easier than it ever was, load up computer with WinXP bootdisk or just the CD, first screen asking if you want to install/uninstall/reinstall windows also has the format option, even gives you a lot more information on your HDD before you choose to def do it, and if you wish to format it in the FAT32 format, or the new improved faster NTFS format that XP enables. Since when did formatting get harder because of better more stable easier to use Operating Systems?

That's the point, you need the installation CD to format the drive while before you could access it directly from the DOS mode. If you used fdisk, you would have exactly the same info about your drives and partitions.
Anyway, a good Operating System wouldn't need to be formatted except for major reasons. Windows has a way to manage their libraries that's so messy that the system is getting slower with time. Linux, for example, have packages that installs exactly what's needed and delete what's not needed anymore when you uninstall it.
And if you really want an easy-to-use, stable, robust and pretty OS, go with MacOS X.
