I really felt that putting this thread in Chill Out would not be sufficient enough so I am putting it here.A more detailed story will appear in Chill Out. Read on ...
I decided to break my "no partying" rule decided to go to Bifteck (a bar in Montreal) and party sober with my two trashed girl friends. There was no way I was going to touch a drop of alcohol last night. As the hours passed by, a crowd of college age kids (both guys and girls) came and sat at the tables next to mine. Initially, what caught my attention were the good looking guys.
Then, another thing caught my attention.
One of the guys had an M*C shirt somewhat hidden under his blue work shirt but I recognized the logo and immediately freaked out. Then, I overheard two other guys at the table talking about Millencolin. I had no idea what they were saying but the name "Millencolin" was emphasized.
New Year's Eve was also my uncle's birthday--if he were still alive. My uncle is from New Jersey. So the drunkest one started introducing himself to me. "Yeah, I'm here to drink since we're 18 and we can't drink where we live. We're from New Jersey." Awesome! Friends to hang out with when I'm in Jersey!
It turned out almost half the table of kids were from Millencolin fans from different parts of Jersey. What are the chances of that happening?
As 2005 was approaching, Karro came to Bifteck minutes before the countdown. I was so happy she showed up. (This was the first time I have met her in person) I was very worried she wouldn't have made it before the countdown.
The American frat boys along with their female friends (that is exactly what those Jersey guys were acting like ) were screaming the countdown and when midnight hit, I ended up getting kissed by 7 people (Karro being part of that list). . I even went up to the guy with the M*C shirt and said "Just for you being a Millencolin fan, I'm so kissing you!" He wasn't my type but I felt he deserved it.
The whole irony of the story is the fact that everyone senses my resentment towards certain Americans and here I was partying with them and getting midnight and giving them midnight kisses.
However, the night didn't end at Bifteck.
