I will list the bands I listened when I was 15 to 18.
Millencolin, Descendents, Screeching Weazel, The Queers, Minor Threat, Operation Ivy, The Vandals, Groovie Ghoulies, Misfits, Ramones, Guttermouth, propagandhi, Blink 182 (Chesire Cat), NOFX (Maximum rock n' roll), Beastie boys (Some Old Bullshit), Beach Boys, Citizen Fish, Seven Second, Pansy Division, some................
Canada Ripcordz (Great ball of Fires cover was my fav)
French WD-40, Les Wampas, Les Secrétaires Volantes
My friends were wannabe rockabillies old school shit so You were gay if you listened to: Lagwagon, Wizo, No Use For A Name, Face To Face, Hi-Standard, Pennywise (The Stand By Me song), Tilt.........oh and Bad Religion was sold out for them.
It was the war between the old and the new schools at time. They said that Millencolin and Blink-182 were music for girls so they didn't beg us cause we, girls, listened to them.
Before that time I was listening to Greenday, Offsprings, Dead Kennedy, Bad Religion, Bérurier Noir (biggest French punk band ever), Banlieu Rouge (French)........

And I love old school hiphop It's the best hiphop of all time. haha...I was listening to rap music around 1998 to 2001. I got sick of those wannabe rockabillies friends, egostical, beggers of everything (money, cigarettes, drugs...), liars, Stealers, hypocrites, drugheads as hell...... so me and my best friend blocked every punk music and stopped to hang out with them. But everytime someone asked me what was my favorite band I answered Millencolin and Descendents. Sure I bought no Cigar when it came out and listened a bunch to it even if punk was prohibed in my book. In April 2001, I just woke up a morning and told me: Millencolin is the best band in the world man, I have to listen to them again! and I've never ever listened to rap after that. It was just a moment of rebellion of what was called rebellion attitudes itself. I've never dressed Yo though I ever stayed dressed as a punk. We fitted really weird in those hip Hop parties....haha

Cool, I was also into rap and such the same time as you, but got fed up with it. Nowadays hiphop sounds almost the same to me, that's why I love the old school hiphop, it's more special

I got fed up once I've started to understand the lyrics. I wasn't good at English at time. I've needed an american boyfriend to teach me the spoken English. After I did open my eyes on this irrevelant shit and fortunately, after, I delievered myself of all this women degoratory scrap. Eminem and Outkast are good though.

Yeah, very few rappers have lyrics that are good. I like Eminem too, more before thou, he was better before. Don't like his latest music so much.

Depends what you mean by talent also, many people say that Jay-Z is one of the best mc's in the world, then he might have talent in that. But when is comes to musical talent, well that's just not the same thing.

An mc is the ones who flow the micro, they aren't really singing, they rap(rap being a burst of coordonated words, the expression coming from the 70's). The djs are the one who makes the beat.
I totally agree on your comment Fuxor. The beats aren't that elaborated. Just about this new song Jockal. It's the same fucking serie of 3 sounds all long. And rap/hip hop is more about the sonority effect together than the meaning behind the words. Women are threated like sexual objects in the majority of the lyricists. And the women lyricists like Eve or Foxy brown have many talent to rap but they are just acting like sluts. The onl positive in their attitutes is that rappers prefer chubby ladies to the anorexia-bodied ones.

I think you're being a little meen to rap music Not all rap music is like that, the rap music you're talking about is mostly the one coming from the rappers on tv and gangsta rappers. Cause here in Sweden we have a lot of great rappers, but neither of them raps about the same stuff that you said. Many rappers here raps about politics and such, stuff that matters, life in Sweden. It's not the "Yo yo yo, niggah niggah"

and i don't know why any woman would want to degrade herself like that for some fat guy with metal teeth and a do rag... ... i guess it must be the "bling-bling." haha..metal teeth. Are you talking about Method Man? This one was my favorite rapper ever at time (with Eminem). "You think twice, I think not".. He is the supreme arsehole. But I melt for strong voices so.
