From www.aftonbladet.se, here's a quick translation. aftonbladet.se/vss/noje/story/0,2789,624114,00.html NEW MATURE MILLENCOLIN HAVE STOPPED FOOLING AROUND. Now noone has to doubt if the quartet is serious or not. Do you still think the Närke natives are a joking group, fond is songs about bowling, bananas and act in a slightly crazy way? Man, are you wrong! Today Millencolin is a mature and supertight machine that steadily ranges from rough rock to melodic American punk. Influences from Rancid(Cash or Clash), Randy's You Can't Keep A Good Band From Playing(Mooseman's Jukebox) and Bad Religion are obvious, but it's still done with such a personal touch that is still sounds Pennybridge. With lyrics, whose comments span from integrational politics to the opener, Farewell My Hell, which deals with Nikola's brother Miodrag and his disappearance almost two years ago, noone has to doubt that the quartet are serious. There ya go, a rough translation.

It feels as it was yesterday that I jogged frenetically in front of the barricades in the People's Park in Karlskoga, to Mr Clean. But it was really 10 years ago, it was graduation day and Nikola wrote "Vans rules" on my Pumas when he signed them. A lot has happened since. I forgot about Millencolin, because I turned to hiphop. Millen themselves listened to Afghan Whigs and decreased the tempo, and when I rediscovered them on Home From Home, it wasn't the same jog-friendly punkrock as in the summer of 1995. 2005 is the year that Millencolin once again has slowly started to jog a bit. The tempo is faster than on the two previous records, but not as fast as on the earliest releases. But the increased tempo isn't the best thing about Kingwood, what I like best is the shameless flirting with the band's influences. I think Joe Strummer sits on a cloud in the Punk Heavens, blasting Cash Or Clash, very happy with what he left on Earth. And the only thing that separates Biftek Supernova from early Bad Religion is Nikola's pronunciation. More chorus' to sing along to would make my drunk nights on Örebro's #1 rockclub complete, but you can't have it all. I'll be happy with a bit of nostalgia, a bit of exercise, and almost a Clash-cover. Another halfassed translation.

Farewell My Hell, which deals with Nikola's brother Miodrag and his disappearance almost two years ago, noone has to doubt that the quartet are serious. Damn, that was one of my interview question. Its hard to make it original nowadays..

I just went back to read the new comments on this review. Is there the 3/4 of Millencolin in revolt against this jackass? Man, he has to suck a bunch and he has the courage to show up again. Oh man, pretending he can type English and we don't..hahahahha

More fun for everyone! www.hn.se/m_recension_etta.php?id=404072&avdelning_1=106&avdelning_2=179It got 5/6! With every new record Millencolin weigh their punkanchor and let their ship drift, towards to a more Hellacopters-like garagerock type of sound. And Thank God for that! It's been a damn long time since a few noisy rocksongs made me this happy, gave me this thirst for beer, this lust for life and made me this randy! Old-school punky "Ray" has been chosen as the single - but it's not a good choice. There're plenty of songs that are a lot better: The opener, "Farewell My Hell" is the Goosebump Song of the Year, "Birdie" and "Mooseman's Jukebox" are small simple goldnuggets. "Biftek Supernova" gets me in such a damn good mood that I have to mention "Shut You Out" and "Stalemate" while I'm at it! And then there's the moosehunter image! Why the heck hasn't someone used that great idea?! The happiest rockin' CD of the summer is here! 5/6!
--- --- --- --- --- Here's an interview from my uncle's newspaper. www.stonline.se/noje/index.php?action=visa_artikel&id=457216Millencolin back in the punk. On the new album "Kingwood" Millencolin return to their roots - the punk, the woods and a Swedish producer. But during 2005 the world will see them play gigs in the US, Australia and South America.
Millencolin are on tour in England, opening for Good Charlotte, and the guitarist Erik Ohlsson is sitting in Bristol's sunny port, eating icecream. The hard touring can't be noticed in his voice, it's only been months since they finished touring with "Home From Home", which was released 3 years ago. -We've been touring a lot but we've spread it out over a longer period of time with short breaks. This is a perfect warmup for our own tour. The Good Charlotte-crowds are completely different from ours, lots of 13-year-old girls with black makeup. But the gigs have been great. Erik Ohlsson and his bandmates were only teenagers when they formed Millencolin in Örebro back in 1992. Then they were possessed by the skateculture and wanted to sound like the Californian punkbands. But as the years have passed, they've become heavier and steadier, a sound that reached its climax on "Home From Home". On the new "Kingwood" they've traced their way back to the original energy of the band. -We wanted to play a bit faster punk, it was great to play to that fast beat again and just let it rip. When Nikola made his soloproject, he got those ballady, more emotional songs out of his system. So he was more excited than ever to play faster and get to scream a bit. It was fun, it feels as if there's more energy in the band than in a long time. The album was named after Nikola Sarcevic's old stereo, Kenwood, that soon got renamed "Kingwood" because of it's crappy quality. In the song "Mooseman's Jukebox", Sarcevic rattles off songs that have been played on Kingwood and have formed the inspirational basis for Millencolin. Erik Ohlsson was inspired by the title when he made the flipped out cover with Sarcevic as a moose and the rest of the band as hunters in fur caps and knitted shirts. -All the inspiration we've had, all the favourite songs and all the favourite artists have been played on Kingwood. "Kingwood" represents our jungle of music, our whole musical inspiration. And the king of the woods is the moose, so I put a pair of horns on Nikola. We being hunters, I don't really know what that means, he says and laughs.
After doing two albums with American producers, Millencolin hired Swedes this time. The veteran Chips Kiesbye, mostly known from Sator and the Hellacopters, has produced the record while Henryk Lipp(Blue For Two), aided in the mixing. -Nowadays, Americans tend to do things so smooth and clean. The productions are smooth as silk and overproduced. We wanted a rawer, more real sound. And Chips was the right person for that, says Erik Ohlsson. Millencolin broke through early overseas, and ever since, there hasn't been much time left for Sweden. 2005 is another new hectic year on tour, but Erik Ohlsson promises that the Swedes also will get to see them live. The Kingwood World Tour starts with Umeå Open on April 8th and after a stint in Europe, the band is back in Gotheburg, Stockholm and Malmö in the last days of April.
-After that there'll be a bit more Swedish festivals in the summer - it's filled with European festivals and the Warped Tour in the US. In September it's Australia, then more in Europe, more in the US and then we'll try to cram Japan and South America in there too. We're booked until February next year.
-Does this make you rich? -We've been living on the sice 1995 and it's going pretty well. Limos? No, you don't need it. But we've got cars anyways.
